Classes are $12 each, or $100 for a card good for any 10 classes.  Mix and match as you please.  All classes are oriented toward the beginning student.

Kripalu Yoga

Kripalu Yoga is the yoga of consciousness and compassion.  Postures (or Asanas) are combined with breathing techniques, self-awareness and a focused yet compassionate attitude.  Emphasis is on the practice of hatha yoga with relaxation, deep breathing and proper alignment.  Self-awareness and being present in the moment are stressed, allowing the practitioner to connect with body, mind and spirit.  Kripalu Yoga encourages you to honor your body's innate intelligence and to understand that your body's needs and abilities change from one day to the next.  As you become aware and as the body and mind relax, physical tensions, mental chatter, emotional holding patterns, and energy blockages can be released and the body restored to balance.  

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is the practice of yoga but with a very different focus.  Its intent is to promote deep and complete relaxation by holding a specific series of yoga postures for a sustained period of time, with a minimum of effort expended.  To accomplish this a variety of props are used.  You might think of it as "supported relaxation".  By supporting the body with props, we can alternately stimulate and sedate the body, coaxing it into balance.  Some poses benefit the entire system, while others target specific parts or conditions.  Traditionally a yoga class ends with a restorative pose such as Shavasana.  Restorative Yoga simply takes that concept further and applies it more directly to what our body needs at the moment.  Additionally, Restorative Yoga postures can often be practiced at times when a vigorous yoga session is out of the question, such as when you are exhausted, sick or recovering from an injury.

Meditation

Be still and know yourself!  Guidance and healing lie within if only you learn to listen.  Meditation develops consciousness and control, as well as providing an internal peace you can draw upon when needed.  Various meditation techniques will be explored.

Private Instruction

If you are unsure about joining a group class, of if you desire more tailored, individualized instruction, consider scheduling one or more private sessions with me.  Yoga Therapy and Restorative Yoga sessions can also be arranged.  The price is $65/hour.
