Thai massage, with its roots in yoga, is a unique and amazing system
that combines rhythmic massage, conscious breathing, acupressure, gentle
rocking, deep stretching, energy balancing and mindfulness. It releases
tension, increases vitality, and creates harmony of body, mind and spirit.
Though it incorporates some yoga-inspired moves. Thai Massage 1 requires no previous knowledge of yoga, and like shiatsu is done on a
floor mat with both giver and receiver dressed in loose, comfortable clothing.
In this class you will learn and practice a 50-minute Thai routine with
the receiver in the prone and supine positions.
Zen Shiatsu 1
is strongly
recommended as an introduction to Asian
bodywork for anyone wishing to take Thai Massage 1.
Thai
Massage 1 or its equivalent
is a prerequisite for taking Thai Massage 2.
Since we will be working on the floor, kindly bring a
couple of heavy blankets to class for your comfort and to protect your knees.
Class will be held at Open Heart, Quiet Mind. If
you have questions or wish to register for this workshop, please contact
the instructor, Ric Good, at 317-840-8393. Massage Therapists may
earn 16 CE hours applicable to the continuing education requirements of
AMTA, ABMP, and NCBTMB.
