Massage

All bodywork is $65/hour, $95/hour-and-a-half.

Zen Shiatsu

An Oriental healing therapy based upon restoring “ki”, the vital life energy that flows through the body’s “meridians”, Zen Shiatsu treats the entire body and mind, not merely its parts.  Consisting primarily of deep compression, acupressure, stretching and range of motion, Shiatsu provides a very relaxing and energizing massage.  It may be performed on the floor or on the table, with the client dressed in loose fitting clothing.  Many of my customers choose Shiatsu for their relaxation massage!  This is my specialty.  While other techniques may better fit a particular problem or situation, I consider Shiatsu to be the best over-all bodywork modality for your health and wellness.  Allow 1-1/2 hours for your massage.  If you would like to try a Shiatsu session, please let me know when you schedule your appointment.

Thai Massage

Thai massage, with its roots in yoga and ayurveda, is a unique and amazing system that combines rhythmic compression, acupressure, gentle twisting, deep stretching, energy work and mindfulness meditation.  It releases tension, calms the body, increases vitality, and encourages harmony of body, mind and spirit.  It requires no experience with yoga, and like shiatsu it is done on the floor with the client dressed in loose, comfortable clothing.  This modality is truly awesome!  Again, allow 1-1/2 hours for your Thai massage.  Be sure to let me know this is your choice when you schedule.

Acupressure

Whether you want the deeper pressure used in Shiatsu and Thai, or you prefer the gentler techniques of Jin Shin, I can meet those needs.  Acupressure accesses specific points on your body to facilitate desired changes, often in areas of the body far remote from where the pressure is being applied.  It can be soothing or intense and is easily and effectively incorporated into other massage modalities.

Myofascial Release

Connective tissue, or fascia, surrounds, supports and protects every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel and organ in the body.  Trauma, inflammation or posture can create a binding down of the fascia, resulting in pain or malfunction throughout the body.  Myofascial release utilizes a gentle form of stretching, producing a profound healing effect upon muscle and fascia, eliminating pain and restoring motion.

Site-Specific Therapeutics

While I often incorporate therapeutic techniques into an everyday massage, persistent muscle and tissue problems, as well as chronic pain, may warrant frequent therapy sessions of a shorter duration.  A customized treatment plan and payment schedule can be worked out with the client.  If necessary, the client’s physician can be consulted.  Examples of conditions that can be treated are stiff neck, frozen shoulder, back pain, loss of mobility, sciatica, headaches, and fibromyalgia.

Swedish Massage

This is what most people envision when they think of massage.  A combination of gliding, kneading, compression, percussion and shaking, Swedish massage is used to increase circulation, improve flexibility, reduce muscle aches and tension, and to create a general feeling of relaxation and well-being.  You can’t go wrong with a Swedish massage.

Sports Massage & Stretching

Using strokes similar to Swedish massage, combined with stretching and range-of-motion techniques, I focus on muscles relevant to a particular sport or activity.  Actual application varies depending on whether the massage is between activities, just prior to performing, during an event, or immediately following a competition.  My special interest and expertise lies in the areas of muscle lengthening, stretching and flexibility.  I have trained in static, PNF and Active-Isolated stretching techniques.  Working together we can enhance your performance and reduce your recovery time.

Corporate/Chair Massage

I am available to provide massage in your corporation or business, for your staff or your clientelle.  Performed using a special ergonomically-designed chair, the head, neck, shoulders, back and arms can be worked while the client is fully clothed.  Great for a mid-day pick-me-up, chair massage relieves stress and energizes the recipient, which is why it is so popular in the corporate setting.  Massages normally last from 10 to 15 minutes.
